Mission and Vision

Building on a unique heritage, FIM provides a context where churches, missionaries, and agency cooperate in the great task of missions for the glory of God. "For we are God’s fellow workers..." 1 Cor. 3:9a (NIV)

Our Passion

Our passion is people trusting Christ as their personal Savior and growing in their faith.

Our Vision

Our vision is a growing team of thriving missionaries who are enthusiastically fulfilling their call in accomplishing the Great Commission to the glory of God.

Our Mission

Our mission is to assist local churches to fulfill their missionary vision and missionaries to fulfill their call.

Operational Distinctives

The FIM approach to ministry finds expression in our operational motto, “Flexibility in Ministry with Integrity and Accountability.” The church, the missionary, and FIM all have significant roles in making this work.
  • We offer flexibility – Freedom to obey God’s call FIM allows missionaries to discern God’s leading in their lives. It further allows them to move quickly and decisively to seize opportunity for the cause of Christ.

  • We value integrity – Life and service by God’s principles FIM screens for missionaries who possess biblical integrity. Missionaries who possess this quality can be trusted to follow God’s leading and act on it responsibly.

  • We facilitate accountability – Godly counsel and oversight FIM holds its missionaries accountable on the basis of a detailed Ministry Plan endorsed by their Key Accountability Partner (KAP) church (sometimes known as the “sending church”). Following a New Testament model, we place a high value on interaction with each missionary’s KAP church as the progress of the ministry requires it.
Salient features of FIM accountability are:
    • Annual signed affirmations of the FIM Doctrinal Statement
    • Quarterly and annual reports that measure ministry progress against goals
    • Regular financial oversight and reporting
    • On-field evaluations by Mission leadership
    • Periodic Ministry Progress Reviews conducted with missionaries in the Home Office

The Role of the Local Church

The church, missionary and agency partner together to successfully complete ministry.
  • To identify, cultivate, and launch those called by God.
  • To prayerfully champion each missionary’s ministry.
  • To foster regular communication with the missionary.
  • To provide ministry and personal accountability for each missionary.

The Role of the Missionary

  • To follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
  • To faithfully serve according to the agreed upon doctrinal and ministry statements.
  • To communicate with supporters faithfully.
  • To inspire others to follow in their footsteps in obedience to Christ.

The Role of FIM

  • To promote the cause of missions in every available setting.
  • To assist missionaries to fulfill their call by supporting and reinforcing them.
  • To assist churches in fulfilling their missionary vision.

Doctrinal Distinctives

Eternal Security

We believe that, once genuinely saved, believers are secure in Christ forever.

Spiritual Gifts

FIM’s view of the Spiritual Gifts could be characterized as “cessationist.” We believe that the gifts of faith, ministry, teaching, exhortation, giving, administration, and mercy are functional in the Church today. We believe that the sign gifts such as prophecy, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, healing, special wisdom and knowledge on a par with Scripture gradually ceased as the New Testament Scriptures were completed and their authority became established. We believe that God hears and answers the prayer of faith for the sick and afflicted in accord with His own will.

Dispensationalism

We believe the Scriptures interpreted in their natural, literal sense reveal divinely determined dispensations or rules of life, which define man’s responsibilities in each age.
We believe that Christ will come before the seven-year tribulation to take believers of the church age to heaven. This is commonly called the pre-tribulational, pre-millennial rapture. After the completion of the tribulation, Christ will return to earth with the saints to establish a literal 1000 year reign, commonly called the Millennium.

Divorce and Remarriage

We believe that God has set high standards for those who lead the church. An application from a person who has been divorced, but has not remarried, will be considered by the Board of Directors on a case-by-case basis. An application from a divorced person will not be considered if there has been remarriage after divorce if either person’s previous spouse is still living.
