My First Love

No, not my first love such as in a boyfriend, please do not get the wrong idea. I am examining my life and wonderning if my first love in life is Jesus Christ? Last week at bible study with the teachers, we talked about how it felt when we were first saved and just fell in love with out Savior. Do I still have that passion for the one who save me as I did then? Unfortunately, that is not always the case. For awhile, I was on fire and loved reading my bible but then I had a hard time getting up early. Christ is my first love and I need to live with him as my center and not be dead in our relationship. He wants me to serve Him with all my heart and love and I desire to do so. When I love God with all my heart, everything else will fall into place. What a beautiful Lord we have to serve! I also have to remember that my kiddos are my first love and it is my job to love on them. It is hard sometimes to keep calm but I need to do so in order to show them Christ's love. We have had some really good conversations lately and they have been asking the importance of accepting Christ and what happens if they don't. I have been honest with them because that is all I can be. These little minds desire to follow God and are very motivated to find the truth and share it with all. Please pray for these little minds as they seek after Christ and as they all go separate ways this summer.

In soccer news, which I am sure you are sick of hearng about, today was our last day of play. We played in a tournament and the girls and boys each played 2 games. Our team is hilarious and it takes a lot of effort just to get on the field to play. Getting them all to the field takes time and then some of them don't have the proper shoes and we have to hunt over the schools and with other players to find the shoes. By the time the game actually begins, I am relaxed as everything else is taken care of. My players always say calm down Miss Sopcisak, it's okay. They are right but it gets a little stressful to manage all of them. One of my girl players comes to me before the game and says we have a problem. She had on zip up shoes and she couldn't get the zipper down. I tried for awhile and then one of the boys said, "let me try the scissors" in all seriousness. I lost it at that point, they are just too funny! Eventually, two boys tried to tear the shoe off of her foot while I held on but then they eventually got it off. By this time I was rolling with laughter because nothing is ever simple but somehow we manage to put a team on the field and do our best. The boys lost the first match 2-0 which was unfortunate because they had chances. After the game, I had to stop the keeper from leaving the match but then I had to focus on the girls' match. They girls' won 5-0 which made it their first win and first clean sheet(no goals scored against them.) They were all very excited as you can imagine! I am so thankful that they were able to seal a win before the end of the season. The boys started their second match down by 3. At this point, the keeper had given up. However, by half time we had scored 2 and at the end of the game we got our last goal from our sweeper. Oh man, talk about exciting! We ended the game in a draw so we had a shoot out. Both teams scored every goal until we got to our sixth shooter and the goalie blocked it. I know it was very hard for him but I have been in that same position before. Overall, the boys had a good season and learned a lot as the year progressed. A lot of them are already excited about next year and I love that. We will only get better! The girls lost their second match 1-0 but they played well and were quite tired by that time! I love these soccer kids like my own and it is sad that it is over but it has been a fruitful year and I think we are all ready for a break. Please pray for these kids as a lot of them don't have parents who are involved in their lives and require us as teachers to lift them up and encourage them. I feel more like a counselor than a coach sometimes. One of my players is trying to make a decision of the school to attend next year. He is not a Christian and I desire him to be so I pray that he will continue to attend our school for the seeds to grow.

Exciting news! My parents are coming in a week's time! This is crazy that the time is already here. Please pray that they get everything packed and everything goes smoothly for them to travel here. I have a lot planned for them but I promised to give them some rest. I will be seeing some of you very shortly and I look forward to good fellowship with my good friends. Until we meet soon!
